Created by Black Breastfeeding Week co-founder Kimberly Seals Allers, Irth is a community platform that helps Black and brown families see ratings and reviews of hospitals and providers to find maternity and pediatric care where they feel heard, respected, and supported.

Anonymous community reviews help parents compare providers, identify red flags, and make more informed care choices while the Irth team uses that data to hold hospitals and providers accountable to preventing maternal disparities. You can leave an anonymous review that impacts real change today at irthapp.com

Irth’s National Milk Crawl brings Black families together for community-led stroller walks in cities across the country, connecting parents with local lactation providers, doulas, and midwives through joyful, visible gatherings.

Each stop features storytelling stations, product sampling, and a quilt collection station where families can add their stories to Black Breastfeeding Week’s Community Legacy Art Installation Project. Sign up for a milk crawl today!

Catch the Milk Crawl in six flagship cities—NYC, Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis, Minneapolis, and New Orleans—plus three partnered activations in Philadelphia, Atlanta, and the Bay Area. Sign up for a milk crawl by clicking the button below!

Black Breastfeeding Week Community Legacy Project

Be a part of history! The BBW Community Legacy Project gathers the real artifacts of Black breastfeeding journeys including photos, handwritten notes, fabric, a hospital bracelet, a nursing clip, whatever holds meaning—onto squares contributed by families across the country. We’ll stitch them together and unveil the art installation  at our 15-Year Celebration in 2027.

Grab a square at a Milk Crawl stop or from a local community partner near you. Fill it with your story. Add it to ours.

Are you a community based organization interested in your event attendees being able to be a part of the Community Legacy Project? Reach out to the Black Breastfeeding Week team to sign up to support the project. The BBW team will ship you the materials and instructions for your event! Sign up to become a partner today.

When you sponsor BBW, you’re investing in the infrastructure of a movement. Your support powers four national activations working in concert: Irth’s National Milk Crawl in cities coast to coast, the We All We Got Community Legacy Project, preserving stories that never make it into textbooks or hospital records, the Who Got You? campaign honoring the people who show up for Black families, and Lactation Scholarships funding the next generation of Black CLCs and IBCLCs—directly closing the workforce gap that drives these disparities.

2026 is a bridge year, building toward BBW’s 15-Year Celebration in 2027. Sponsoring now means your brand is part of the story before the milestone moment and a name families see on the ground, in their hands, and across their feeds during the movement’s most visible chapter yet. Learn more.

Black Breastfeeding Week is a fiscally sponsored project of Narrative Nation, Inc., the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization behind the Irth App.

As our fiscal sponsor, Narrative Nation receives and administers all donations on behalf of Black Breastfeeding Week, ensuring your contribution directly supports our mission to improve Black maternal and infant health.

Black Breastfeeding Week 2026

Founded in 2013 by Kimberly Seals Allers, Kiddada Green, and Anayah Sangodele-Ayoka, three nationally recognized maternal health advocates, it was created to celebrate Black lactation and to spotlight the unique barriers and cultural solutions Black communities bring to the conversation around infant feeding.

Visit Blackbreastfeedingweek.org to learn more about the organization’s history.

It is more than a phrase. It is a belief. A practice. A survival strategy. A love language. And at this moment, we feel it more deeply than ever. Black Breastfeeding Week was created because we needed our own space — a space to center our stories, our families, our babies, our bodies, our brilliance, our grief, our joy, and our solutions.
For 14 years, BBW has been powered by community care, collective wisdom, and the people who keep showing up for Black mothers, birthing people, babies, and families when systems do not.

So this year, our 2026 theme is: WE ALL WE GOT: 14 Years of Community, Care, and Collective Power

We are honoring the movement. Celebrating the builders. Lifting up the legacy. And calling our community forward.

The reminder every mom needs. 👏🏾
At our last Power Moms Brunch in Minnesota, our guest speaker @naturi4real shared this big lesson: your support system works best when you actually let it support you.
A powerful reminder to release the pressure to do everything alone, communicate what you need, and make room for support—whether that’s help with your kids, your career, or simply time to breathe.
This is us. This is IRTH.
Send this to a mom who needs the reminder. 🤎
And if you're looking for a community of like-minded mamas, we got you.

We deserve 5-star care.
And that means so much more than leaving the hospital with a healthy baby. It means our mamas and birthing people have healthy experiences, too.
What does that look like? That we’re listened to and honored throughout pregnancy, birth and beyond.
That we’re treated with dignity, our questions are answered and we feel safe with the people caring for us.
For Black and brown families, there’s a deep history behind why we have to say this out loud.
We’ve heard the stories, seen the statistics, and many of us have even become the statistics.
But our experiences shouldn’t only matter when something goes wrong.
A healthy baby shouldn’t be the only measure of a “successful” birth if the person who gave birth walked away traumatized, dismissed or poorly treated.
Yes, we're resilient, but resilience should never have to be the standard.
Five-star care should be.
And there’s so much we can learn from each other about what that care actually looks like.
From the parents telling us what happened in hospitals, doctors’ offices and birthing spaces across the country.
The moments when someone didn’t listen and the ones where they truly did.
The places our community would return to and the places they wouldn’t.
Having that knowledge is a GAME CHANGER and that’s the power of Irth.
When we share our experiences, we help each other see where five-star care is happening and where our community deserves better.
Join us in making five-star care the standard.
If you’ve received prenatal, birthing, postpartum or pediatric care, rate + review your experience in the Irth app.
Or right on our website. We're serious.

Motherhood can feel like a lot of things at once: beautiful, exhausting, ambitious, isolating, joyful, overwhelming.
Last September 27, Power Moms on Lake Minnetonka brought mothers together for an afternoon centered on the realities of motherhood — from building a career while raising a family to finding trusted birth support and navigating the ways media and policy shape our experiences.
We heard from powerful voices including @naturi_naughton, Kimberly Seals Allers and an incredible group of mothers, advocates, birth workers & leaders.
Thank you to every mama who showed up, shared, connected, and helped make Power Moms what it was.
We’ll see you at our next events!
Log in the IRTH app and stay tuned.
